October 18, 2005: Robert Benoit, Head of the Wind Energy project, and Wei Yu, Physical Scientist, were presented with the 2005 R.J. Templin Award, given by the Canadian Wind Energy Association, for their outstanding contribution to the development of Canadian wind energy technology.

October 18, 2005: Launch of a leading-edge tool for the wind energy sector, AnemoScope, during the Canadian Wind Energy Association Annual Conference in Toronto. See News Release from Environment Canada.

June 6, 2005: The Canadian Wind Energy Association launched a new website (http://www.smallwindenergy.ca) aimed at providing information and decision-making tools for Canadians interested in small wind turbines. Users can enter their postal code, and the calculator produces a cost estimate based on wind data from the Canadian Wind Energy Atlas. See press release.

February 10, 2005: Three new tiles have been calculated, in Eastern Canada (tile 17-18) and in Western Canada (tiles 13-4 and 15-4).

February 2, 2005: Correction of an offset of one node in x and y axes when determining the point clicked by the user for the display of the wind rose and the wind speed histogram.

January 24, 2005:

• Five new tiles have been calculated, in Eastern Canada (tiles 13-24 and 11-26) and in Western Canada (tiles 15-6, 17-6 and 17-8),
• Comparisons with observations in the stations added for these 5 new tiles and for the tiles added on November 30, 2004, except for tiles 5-22 and 13-24 (not available),
• Modification of the display of wind roses for values over 0.3,
• Legends added in the maps page.

December 2nd, 2004: Map in pdf format giving an overview of the simulation results on Canada for the mean wind speed at 50m.

December 1st, 2004: Subscribe to our electronic list to receive information on updates in the Atlas.

November 30, 2004:

• Five new tiles have been calculated, in Eastern Canada (tiles 7-24, 7-22 and 5-22) and in Western Canada (tiles 9-6 and 11-6),
• Possibility to give a latitude/longitude so as to display the wind rose, histogram and turbine formula for that location, or for the nearest point where we have this information,
• Display of the latitude/longitude corresponding to the point situated under the cursor, in the window below the tile. The display is updated when the mouse is moved in the tile.
